But for Donald Rumsfeld, yes that Donald Rumsfeld, this poisonous and unpleasant substance would never have reached the market. The scientists at Searl, the company, which produces and markets Aspartame had performed tests on Monkeys. I have heard that on one test they fed Aspartame to 7 monkeys. I understand that, of the 7 monkeys, 1 or 2 died and 4 or 5 had grand mal seizures. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) tested Aspartame and found it unsafe, as did the Centre for Disease Control (CDC). Both of these institutions pronounced Aspartame unsafe. The matter might have rested there, but Donald Rumsfeld decided to get involved. Never one to be concened with such tedious matters as truth, justice, genocide, torture and the rights of normal decent human beings, Donald Rumsfeld decided he was going to ensure that this product went to market. He succeeded too, using political pressure, friends in high places and vast sums of money, Donald Rumsfeld ensured that people the world over would be sure to take this extremely poisonous, extremely dangerous, substance.

Most of the stuff on this website is for entertainment only. However, there is some serious stuff. This includes A Small Section on Climate Change. However, the one thing I would really like to do on this website is to draw your attention to the work of Naomi Klein. If I can bring this remarkable young woman's work to the attention of even a thousand people before I go to meet my maker, my life will not have been in vain. This lady truly has her finger on the pulse of life in the 20th century. In particular, she is aware of a systemic evil, at the heart of the largest and most powerful country in the world, which would, quite literally, make your hair stand up on end! But this is no alarmist nutcase I am talking about. This very intelligent, cultured and well informed young woman is one of the world's most respected journalists and writers. You will often see her work in the Comment and Debate section of The Guardian.
Naomi Klein's book, The Shock Doctrine, is probably the most important book of the 21st Century. I suspect it will continue to be so for a very long time to come. It is also, probably, the most thoroughly researched book of the 21st Century. There are 21 Chapters to this book. The first Chapter alone references 82 separate source documents. These references refer mostly to academic books and publications, interspersed with news reports, taken from the world's finist, and most respected newspapers and academic journals.
I have a section on my Website, devoted solely to links to YouTube videos of talks by and interviews with Naomi Klein. These YouTube videos include A talk about Disaster Capitalism, the central theme of The Shock Doctrine, together with links to six YouTube videos, which represent Parts 1 - 6 of a presentation about The Shock Doctrine, which Naomi Klein gave to the The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, an organisation with which she appears to have very close links.
Finally, here is a link to a poem which could almost be about me: The Traitor, by Leonard Cohem.
